Currently, he is a fellow at The Africa Institute, Sharjah, UAE and Assistant Professor in the Department of Media Arts, Sciences and Studies, Ithaca College, New York.

Honored with the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship and the Prince Claus Award, his short features “Fugace” (1996) and Fake Soldiers” (1999) have pioneered in fictionalizing Black German life. His documentaries “Si-Gueriki, The Queen Mother” (2002), “Arlit, The Second Paris” (2005), Indochina Traces of a Mother” (2011), and “America Street” (2019) garnered international acclaim and were shown at prestigious festivals worldwide, including Berlin, Rotterdam, Vienna, Milano, Busan, Marseille, and Sheffield, collecting numerous awards.
